David has built a career as a leader in every role he has occupied over the last 45 years. He has held senior management positions in large corporate organizations and has also provided leadership in the startup ICT and energy sectors. In every role, he has grown the organization successfully by listening to his customer and using his can-do attitude and drive to find a “win/win” solution acceptable to all.
As the President and CEO of Atlantic Hydrogen Inc. (AHI), David has led the organization through multiple rounds of raising capital from private investors and strategic partners who support AHI’s vision of addressing climate change with technology solutions like the CarbonSaver. Under his leadership, AHI has raised $50mm from private and public sources including Emera, Shell, EnCana and from both federal and provincial governments.
David was the CEO of Unisys Canada, a subsidiary of Unisys Corporation for six years. Each year under his leadership the company achieved its’ assigned financial goals and objectives. He successfully built a strong management team by setting the example of focusing on the customer.
He has served on the Board of Directors of both not-for-profit and for profit organizations as a Director and Chairman. He has completed governance training programs from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Derrick holds a Bachelor of Science and a PhD both in Electrical Engineering. Prior to 2006, Derrick spent 5+ years working for Philips Medical Systems, a major medical MRI manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked as a Senior Staff Scientist at Philips, developing new MRI techniques for their instruments.
His strengths included research, project management and product development. Derrick has led many major development projects for Philips and is a member of many industry organizations, such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Core Analysts, and Society of Petroleum Well Log Analysts.
Derrick is one of the founders of Green Imaging Technologies, Inc. and currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer for the company. His technical knowledge serves as the backbone of new products being developed by GIT.
Derrick is currently the 2018/2019 President of the Society of Core Analysts.
Joelyn is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with an undergraduate degree from Bishop’s University, Lennoxville, QC. She lives in Moncton, NB and currently volunteers on one other Board – Capitol Theatre, Moncton (Director | Treasurer), Not-for-profit.
Joelyn has more than 15 years in the professional service environment with clients from multiple industries mostly in North America.
Currently, she is the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary at Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada. Her focus is to develop and maintain the enterprise risk management framework and related strategies to effectively translate the risk appetite into informed decision-making practices, while effectively and efficiently identifying, preventing, detecting and mitigating non-compliance with set risk limits and applicable legislation. She provides guidance and timely communication with Regulators, Shareholders, Directors and Senior Management. She develops/maintains operational and outsourcing risk frameworks. Before joining Blue Cross Life, Joelyn was a Senior Manager of Audit and Assurance Services for PwC Canada.
Edwin is currently working at the Windsor Salt Mine in Pugwash Nova Scotia as a Senior Geologist and Quality Control Supervisor. Prior to accepting this position, Edwin operated his private consulting firm, EMG which has been in operation since 1994. He graduated from Acadia University in Wolfville Nova Scotia, with his BSc, in 1987. He holds his Professional Geoscientist certification in Nova Scotia and is a past member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers where he acted as the treasurer for the Maritimes SPE Section and sat on the Canadian Board of Directors.
After graduating at Acadia, he devoted 6 years to mineral exploration before joining the petroleum industry in 1993. Edwin has broad operations, exploration and production experience in Canadian and international basins. His early years in the petroleum sector were spent with a private consulting firm, prospecting and mapping conventional fairways for various major operators in the Western Canadian Basin. Mr. Macdonald served as Vice President Exploration for Contact Exploration Inc. of Calgary Alberta from 2006 until 2010, where his main focus was oil and gas exploration and production in New Brunswick. Prior to that, Edwin worked as an exploration geologist in the Western Canadian Basin for Seneca Energy.
Internationally, Edwin served as project geologist for Husky Energy in both the East and South China Seas which included the Liwan discovery by Husky Oil. That project’s discovery well was the first deep water well drilled in the South China Sea and lead to a 7 tcf discovery. Edwin has evaluated several sub basins within the Maritimes Basin in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and New Brunswick concentrating on conventional and unconventional prospects. Edwin has also spent time evaluating opportunities within basins across eastern Europe and Australia.
